Nova Scotia is Getting Another Election This Fall

Since one election in Halifax wasn’t enough, apparently, Nova Scotia is getting another election for the entire province this autumn.

Voters will head to the polls once again, this time for a provincial snap election that will take place Nov. 26th.

Although the current premier, PC Conservative Tim Houston, passed legislation three years ago that set an election date for July 15th, 2025, he is now backtracking on that in an effort to win a second term.

Houston claims he called an election because his party intends to make significant changes to improve both affordability and the housing crisis.

Before taking those steps, says Houston, “I feel it only right that Nova Scotian should have their say.”

Houston’s biggest opponents will be from the major party leaders, Liberal Zach Churchill and NDP Claudia Chender.

As campaigning kicked off this Monday, Houston faced backlash from Churchill, who argued the premier “broke the spirit” of the new law setting a fixed election date.

Stay tuned for updates and our guide to the election, coming soon at East Kind.
