What’s On: Five Things To Do in and Around Halifax This Week [Oct 29-Nov 3 Edition]
From strange birds and literary festivals to more Halloween cheer, there’s a host of entertaining events happening around town.
Here’s our roundup of five things to do in and around Halifax this week.
Graeme Patterson: Strange Birds
Strange Birds is Canadian artist Graeme Patterson’s third thematic exhibition. Using sculptures, projected animation and a virtual reality environment, Patterson explores what happens when an invasive bird species overwhelms a fragile marshland.
You can find this exhibit at the Dalhousie Arts Centre, with drop-in tours happening Nov. 2 this week from 2-3 pm. Strange Birds runs until Nov. 10th.

Bluenose Ghosts Festival
Still looking to get into the Halloween spirit? Fortunately for you the Bluenose Ghosts festival continues nightly until Halloween (Mon-Thurs this week).
Find Helen’s Shanty Escape Room, the Creighton Crypt Ride, Spiritual Readings, and, of course, the Terror Manor House of Darkness over the bridge at the Dartmouth Waterfront.
Measha Brueggergosman-Lee: Zombie Blizzard
The international opera superstar Measha Brueggersgosman-Lee sold out her first show in Halifax, and so she added a second one on Oct 30th. As you would.
Brueggergosman-Lee is bringing her Zombie Blizzard album show to the east coast– a unique blend of the classical concert aria and jazz-influenced art song that uses the poetry of Margaret Atwood to tackle issues of sexism, humour, gender inequality, and grief.
Catch it at the Carleton. Show time is 7pm and tickets, while they last, are $51.75.
