What’s On: Six Things To Do in and Around Halifax This Week [Nov 11-17 Edition]

The weather out there might be pretty frightful, but that won’t stop Halifax from getting into the holiday cheer.

From a craft show and holiday market to a magical cirque performance extravaganza, there are a few options for transporting you into the glimmering world of festivities if you so desire.

If you’re not on board for that quite yet, you might find yourself drawn to an author talk or even a dance theatre performance that explores the hardships of long ago Mi’kma’ki winters.

Here’s our roundup of six things to do in and around Halifax this week:

winter moons

Winter Moons premieres at the Neptune Theatre this week and promises to be a poignant dance theatre production that incorporates legends and star stories with contemporary dance.

With direction and story from shalan joudry and choreography by Sarah Prosper, the piece follows the teachings of L'nu (Mi'kmaw) fire keepers as they carry an ember through the winter season — three moons of winter.

Winter Moons runs from Tues. Nov 12 to 24, with tickets starting at $35.
